(Part 1) TEACHING(10-15mins)

(Part2) PRACTICE
(I) Square and Rectangle (15-20  mins)
Complete the following.
Rectangle
Area = 42 cm2        Length = 7 cm
(1)   Breadth =           , Perimeter = _______

Breadth = 5 cm   Perimeter = 26 cm
(2)  Area = ________  ,  Length = ______

Complete the following.
Square
Area = 36cm2
3.  side = _______    ,    Perimeter = _________

Side =  7 cm
4.  Perimeter = _________   Area = ____

(II) Word Problems (30 - 45 mins)
5.  The diagram below, not drawn to scale, is made up of a rectangle and two identical squares. X is the mid-point of Line PQ. (18/17/p1/f)

Find the perimeter of the figure.
(1) 48 cm
(2) 52 cm
(3) 56 cm
   (4) 72 cm

6.  Find the perimeter and area.

7.  Find the area of the shaded region.
For question 8 and 9.
Small rectangles are cut out from a rectangular piece of paper along the dotted lines as shown below. The breadth of the paper is 15 cm. The perimeter of the paper after cutting is 82 cm. (12/p2/s)

8.    What is the length of the rectangular paper before the cutting?
9.    What is the area of the remaining paper after the cutting?

For questions 10-13*.
Name the shapes using the square grid below.
<< rectangle, parallelogram, trapezium, rhombus)
10.  (1)_________________
11.  (2)_________________
12.  (3)_________________
13.  (4)_________________

14*. Figure A is made up of six identical squares. Two squares were removed from Figure A to form Figure B.
The perimeter of Figure A is 240cm. What is the perimeter of Figure B?
Extra Practice
1*. A path of length 18 m is completely covered with identical tiles, following the pattern shown below. The width of the path is 60 cm.
How many tiles were used to cover the entire path?

2.  4/7 of a square is painted blue. 5/6 of the remainder is painted red. It the blue part is 36 cm2 more than the red part, find the area of the square.

3*.  Karly has two rectangular boxes of different sizes. The length, breadth and height of the larger box are twice those of the smaller box.
She packed 24 identical cubes exactly into the smaller box. How many such cubes can be packed exactly into the larger box?

Tutor Remark:
