Congruent and Similar Triangles

SSS (Side Side Side) Property

If 3 sides of 1 triangle are equal to the 3 sides of the other triangle, then the 2 triangles are congruent.

In  triangle ABC and XYZ,

S : AB = XY

S: BC = YZ

S: AC = XZ

IF the three sides of one triangle are equal to the three sides of the other triangle, the two triangles are congruent.

SAS (Side Angle Side) Property

 If 2 sides and the included angles of 1 triangle are equal to 2 sides and the included angle of the other triangle, then the 2 triangles are congruent.

⃤⃤  ABC and      ⃤PQR

    S : AB = PQ

    A : Angle PQR = ABC 

    S : BC = RQ

 

AAS (Angle Angle Side) Property

If 2 angles and a side of 1 triangle are equal to two angles and the corresponding side of the other triangle, then the 2 triangles are congruent.

⃤ ABC and.     ⃤ XYZ,

 A : Angle A = Angle X

 A : Angle B = Angle Y

 S : AC = XZ

RHS property (RightAngle-Hypotenuse-Side)

⃤⃤  ABC and      ⃤PQR

    R: Right Angle 90 = Angle A = Angle R

    H : Hypotenuse = BC = PQ

    S : AC = RQ
